What Is Stellar?
Stellar is an open-source blockchain network designed for moving value efficiently across borders and between assets. Its native token, the lumen (XLM), plays a special role in the network, including account-level functionality and transaction-related use across the ecosystem.
What Can You Do With Stellar?
Stellar is well suited for cross-border payments, remittances, and tokenized asset flows. The network also uses anchors—specialized on- and off-ramps—to connect blockchain transactions with traditional financial rails.
How Much Is One XLM Worth?
The value of XLM fluctuates with market demand, payment-network adoption, tokenization activity, and overall crypto sentiment. Check our platform for live XLM pricing before you buy or sell.
When Did Stellar Start?
The Stellar network launched in 2014. Since then, it has positioned itself around practical financial infrastructure, especially payments, asset issuance, and global value transfer.
Is Stellar a Good Investment?
XLM may appeal to buyers who want exposure to a blockchain focused on financial rails rather than meme-driven demand or purely speculative usage. The investment thesis is tied to Stellar's growth in payments, on/off-ramp infrastructure, and tokenized real-world assets.
A brand-new Stellar account has to be funded to exist
Stellar requires every account to hold a base reserve before the network will recognise it. That means sending a small amount of XLM to a freshly created address that has never been funded will simply fail — the account does not exist yet, and a payment below the reserve cannot create it. If you are buying XLM into a wallet you have just set up, make sure the first delivery comfortably exceeds the minimum, or the transfer will bounce and you will be chasing it.
Trustlines: you opt in to every asset except XLM
Stellar will not let anyone send you an asset you have not explicitly accepted. Holding anything other than XLM itself — a stablecoin, a tokenised share, an anchor's dollar — requires adding a trustline first, and each one consumes part of your reserve. It is unusual and it is a genuine safety feature: a Stellar wallet cannot be filled with unsolicited tokens the way an Ethereum address can. For buying XLM itself no trustline is needed, but it is worth knowing before you try to receive anything else there.
